For foreign participants coming to Turkey:

  • Check Turkey’s visa requirements for your country in advance of travel.

Since entry requirements may vary, it’s best to review the latest updates from Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs or check with Turkish embassies and consulates before you travel.

  1. Visa Exemption and e-Visa:
  • If you qualify for visa-free entry or an e-Visa, you can obtain an e-Visa online through Turkey’s official e-Visa portal.
  • The e-Visa process is quick, and approval is usually immediate.
  1. Health Insurance:
  • While health insurance isn’t mandatory for entry, having travel insurance is recommended to cover unexpected medical needs.
  1. Information about communication and currency in Turkey
  2. Communication:
  • Language: The official language is Turkish. In major tourist areas and cities, many people in hotels, restaurants, and shops speak some English.
  • SIM Cards: You can buy prepaid SIM cards from major Turkish carriers such as Turkcell, Vodafone, or Türk Telekom at airports and kiosks in the city. Be sure to bring identification (such as a passport) for registration.
  • Internet Access: Turkey has widespread 4G coverage, and Wi-Fi is commonly available in hotels, cafes, and public spaces.
  1. Currency:
  • Currency: The official currency is the Turkish Lira (TRY), symbolized as “₺”.
  • Exchange: Foreign currency can be exchanged at airports, banks, exchange offices, and some hotels. ATMs are widely available and offer good exchange rates for foreign debit and credit cards.
